Tired, but Grateful

How are you feeling right now?

This is a great prompt. I was kinda already going to talk about this today, and when I saw the prompt, I decided to go with it. How am I feeling right now? What she said πŸ˜‚

This is nothing new. I feel this way every day. Every time my alarm goes off, I just want to ignore it and sleep and sleep and sleep. But no, I have bills to pay and I like to eat.

Besides being tired, right now, I feel like what I am getting ready to do is probably pointless, but what is the alternative? Today is shot day. Today, I will inject a 4 week supply of medication, Kesimpta, into one of my legs. I will then put a taco bandage on the injection site, and it will make me smile. I don’t really know if the medication is slowing down the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS) or not. I guess I have to wait and see. Despite the lack of immediate evidence, I feel resigned to utilize this medication as a form of treatment. I love my independence, and I want to keep it as long as possible. As long as I am not experiencing any crazy side effects, I will continue this once every 4 weeks ritual.

I read an article today that highlightedΒ  an episode of the MesSy podcast with Christina Applegate and Jamie Lynn Seigler. Christina, who was diagnosed with MS in 2020, was talking about her journey.Β  She said that she has been hospitalized 30 times due to MS!!! How do you live a somewhat normal life when dealing with that? Right now, I am feeling so much gratitude for where I am. And my heart goes out to anyone who is not where I am.

Occasionally, I watch the Angie Martinez IRL podcast. One of the questions she always asks each guest is how are they feeling and she listens for the answer. I’ll be your Angie Martinez. How are you feeling right now? Such a simple question. So you shouldn’t have any issues with answering it πŸ˜‚. Please feel free to leave a comment. Stay well and whole. Much Love 🧑 πŸ’š

Cartoons, Soap Operas, & BET

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

My soul sister BT gave me a topic to write about, and I will because I find it very interesting, but I don’t think I can do it justice tonight. I think Friday will be good since I will be winding down from the week and my mind will be clear. I’m just going to cheat and use the Day One Prompt today. I cannot express how much these have been a lifesaver for me. Day One, you are the best.

Today, I wore one of my favorite shirts. It has anime characters on it from a show I used to watch, Inuyasha. This guy was like cool shirt and we talked anime for a moment. Now, I didn’t watch this as a kid, but in my early twenties. I was living on my own, I had cable, and Cartoon Network was my favorite channel. I would get off work at 11 pm or later and watch Adult Swim. I think this is when I really got hooked on anime. Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Lupin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Robot Chicken (not anime, but it was one of the shows I watched). Most nights, I wouldn’t go to bed until 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning. These cartoons were a lot different from the ones I grew up watching as a child.

As a child, I had The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, Captain Caveman, and so many more. I don’t really remember being glued to the TV watching shows that weren’t cartoons. I also don’t remember half my childhood, so the above statement doesn’t hold much weight πŸ˜†. I know I watched The Cosby Show, A Different World, Sanford & Son, All My Children (with my grandmother like every other grandkid), and Bosom Buddies (what a weird show to remember). Honestly, I can’t pinpoint any of these cartoons or shows as my favorite though.

My love has always been music. Now, I will say that VH-1, MTV, and BET were my true favorite stations. Watching the top ten countdowns, listening to all the songs from the 80s and 90s. These channels helped me to have a diverse taste in music. I loved Aerosmith as much as I loved Run DMC. And they had the nerves to do a song together, chefs kiss. I remember being so excited to watch a video and how much energy and effort was put in by the artist. I still like watching videos. Now, I watch more K-Pop videos because they put the energy and effort in. The dancing is top tier.

We have become so spoiled with these streaming services and watching TV is not the same. I can’t say that I miss the old way of watching TV because I rarely ever watch TV now. But I do miss how great the shows were. Now, I struggle to find things to watch when I am in the mood to watch TV. I pretty much just cut on Danger Mouse, the updated version from 2019, and recite all the lines. It is one of my go-to shows when I can’t find anything to watch.

What TV shows do you remember watching as a kid or young adult? Did you watch any of the shows I listed above? Did you have a favorite show? I want to hear from you. Make sure to leave a comment. Be well and whole. Much Love 🧑 πŸ’š

Amanecer (Sunrise)

What’s your favorite time of day?

I sometimes scroll through other bloggers’ responses to the Day One Prompts just out of curiosity. Today, when I scrolled through, it was a blogger that said, “Who cares what your favorite time of day is.” I laughed my ass off. I don’t know why it was so funny. It makes me wonder if that is their response to all the Day One Prompts. It just seems weird to say that for just this one. The reality is that the majority of people don’t care about any of our answers to the prompts. But we answer it because there is just enough people that give a shit to make it worthwhile.

For the people who do care, my favorite time of day would be sunrise. I have gone back and forth with myself on whether it was sunrise or sunset. Ultimately, I chose sunrise because it is the start of the day. The sky lightens, and as the sun comes up, it fills the sky with all these pretty, muted yellows, purples, pinks, and oranges. It is usually pretty quiet except for the birds chirping and singing. The temperature may require a little jacket or not. You can look forward to the day ahead realizing it has infinite possibilities.

For as much as I love sunrises, I haven’t seen one in a while. I don’t have any new pictures of sunrises or sunsets, for that matter. I do have a few old pictures.

I don’t know what I did any of these mornings after taking these pictures. I do know I felt uplifted from the beauty and awe of the miracle of a new day. I know I said I wanted a house on the water facing the sunrise so I could go to the restroom and come back to look at the sun from the comfort of my home. I would get annoyed when I had to use the restroom and therefore had to return home. When what I really wanted to do was drink coffee and stare out at the sun and the water all day. Oh well, one day.

I am asking because, unlike the other blogger, I do care. Lol. What is your favorite time of day? It can be as simple as nap time. My friend Monica listed naps 3 times on her 30 Things That Make Me Happy list πŸ˜†. Or dinner time. I get it. I love to eat too. There is no wrong answer. Be well and whole. Much Love 🧑 πŸ’š
